Creative assistance

I meet new people working in start ups and specifically those in creative industries every week and I am always surprised that schemes which are widely available are unknown to them. I’m unsure if it’s because the information is hard to find or simply because people don’t know it exists so they don’t bother to look for it?

If you are a creative in business you should be looking for help- the creative sectors are growing faster than traditional industry and the government is trying to assist the growth so there are various schemes out there to help. For example:

Staffing

If you are working within a creative business and would like another member of staff but are struggling with cost…. Have you looked at the creative employment scheme? You could get some money up front to help with costs of bringing in an intern or apprentice.

Funding

If you are in the process of researching the market, developing a new product or building a prototype for an innovative or tech product…..have you checked to see if you qualify for a SMART grant? Or any other government backed funding?

Tax reductions

Look at the HMRC website or speak to your accountant

There is also tax relief available on qualifying products via the R&D scheme

If you are working in film, TV or gaming there are possible tax reliefs– good ones!

Events

There are events for inspiration, help, advice and support and more, creative expo was last month but there are many all over the country – you just have to get on google and have a look.

It’s no good moaning about business being hard if you are not out there researching and seeking help.

So when your mind is next on business- get online and do some research to see what is out there for you, it really is worth it.

If you would like further information on any of the above mentioned assistance feel free to contact me direct.
