The run up to Christmas always means a visit to Cockpit Arts Winter Open Studios for WardWilliams Creative. It’s one of our favourite dates in the Christmas calendar, but due to covid restrictions we will be making our yearly pilgrimage online! Cockpit Arts are launching their digital “Cockpit Makers’ Market” on Thursday 26 November and run throughout the whole of December.
“For the very first time in 30 years our famed Winter Open Studios are taking a different form and yes, like many others we’re going digital this year. Join our virtual 2020 event this winter where we introduce fresh new talent just arrived at Cockpit Arts – and where our 150 makers will be presenting exclusive items and experiences available nowhere else. We’ll be recreating Cockpit’s special festive atmosphere online – you’ll virtually be able to smell the mulled wine!”
Cockpit has always been a destination to discover fresh talent on the cusp of career success. Their new online emporium features “virtuoso makers across the spectrum of craft disciplines: from contemporary ceramics to fine jewellery, from hand-printed cards to handwoven textiles, and from bespoke leather goods to unique kitchen knives. There are a host of more unusual disciplines, too, including millinery, mosaic and Moroccan Zouaq painting.”
Items have been selected to suit all budgets, from splash-out collectible artworks to affordable stocking fillers. Their aim is to smash any preconception that “high-end craft is just for those with deep pockets.”
Set your alarm for 26th November to support these incredible artists and independent makers!
“Cockpit is one of a kind – and our makers are too. Our new platform brings together in one place Cockpit’s gifted community of makers and the stunning works they create. With an immense variety of items available – in price range, product type and craft discipline – its appeal lies in the ability to seek out one-offs found nowhere else. It’s the place to come for gifts with meaning and soul.” Annie Warburton, CEO, Cockpit Art
This month we want to highlight some of those creative businesses and individuals who have demonstrated this resilience, creativity and proactivity.
Support Independent Businesses and Makers this Festive Season
As Christmas is around the corner it’s going to be a very different one for us all. We’ve all been through a lot this year, and although we have focused on just 3 businesses in this article we’d like to give a shout out to all of our fantastic clients for their resilience throughout this tough year. The future relies on us supporting one another; choosing where you buy your gifts from this Christmas can be one of the ways we help support each other, and independent businesses to ensure they will be back in 2021.
